lament for Paul...
I cut up my hand when I fell on the ice, so pardon me if my typing gets sloppy. This really doesn't pertain to anything, but I need to talk about it... write it down.

I've had an odd day... I called my friend this morning and the second thing she says after 'Hello,' is 'Paul died last night'. What do you say to someone that's just lost one of their best friends?

Do you not mention the person for a while? Do you reminisce? Best I could think of was going over and being with her for a while, taking her out to get her mind off of it until she was ready to be with the rest of his/their close friends. Dea's not the type to cry, but by the time I saw her I don't think she could cry any more.

It was a car accident, and there isn't even any one to blame. Both cars were going under the speed limit, but the road conditions were just so bad last night. They had pictures of the accident on the news... the driver's side was completly gone. Usually that would make me sad if I didn't know the person, but I just kind of wanted to be ill to think this nice, frail blond boy was in that smashed in driver's side.

I didn't know him that well, but you didn't have to know him to like him. He was such a nice guy. He was quiet and smart and funny when he was coaxed out of his shell. He was one of the few friends that Dea had that didn't constantly rub me the wrong way. And he was so devoted to his girlfriend. It makes me sad that she didn't realize how luck she was, because he was always there and she knew he would always be there for her... but now he's not.

I took Dea out for a while, then dropped her off at the girlfriend's parent's house (she could stand to be in the apartment they shared any more), and now I'm waiting to see if she needs a ride home. I don't think Dea will want to be driving any time soon.

I still don't know what to say.

People shouldn't die at nineteen years old.
